Professor Mordechai
(Motti) Gutman received his MD from Tel Aviv University. He finished residency
in general surgery in Tel Aviv medical center (Ichilov) and was the head of the
unit for regional chemotherapy and deputy head of the department of surgery. He
was the head of a department of surgery in Meir medical center for seven years.
Today he is the director of Surgery in Sheba Medical Center, which is the
biggest hospital in Israel.
Professor Gutman was a visiting scientist for two years in M D Anderson cancer
center. His interests include treatment for cancers from gastrointestinal
origin, breast cancer, melanoma and sarcoma. He has special interest in
treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis (HIPEC). In this field he is a world
leader.
Professor Gutman is a full professor of surgery. He heads the steering
committee for surgery for “Maccabi health services” and is a member of the
national councils for Surgery and oncology. In 2013 he was elected as the
chairman of the Israeli Surgical Association.
